Educational Concerts

A one hour-long musical voyage to discover an era, a composer, a musical genre. Keys for listening in fascinating anecdotes, the Les Siècles orchestra together with the presenter Pierre Charvet invite the public to get involved in the works of the programme, even to sing a little song written for the occasion. To close the season, the young people themselves will occupy the stage with the prestigious London Symphony Orchestra for the second Paris performance of Take A Bow!
To prepare yourself for the concert, consult the online educational dossier.

Pre-concert family workshops

The Les Siècles orchestra and teacher Sarah Goldfarb offer families a pre-concert musical workshop during which amusing exercises with percussion instruments reveal the different elements making up the musical compositions. The families thus share a moment of true complicity with the musicians just before the orchestra goes on stage.

The Cité de la musique and the Salle Pleyel have adapted to the new school calendar by organising educational concerts during the week. Their objective: to facilitate the acceptance of symphonic music and opera by young people; to tell the story of percussion through the centuries and across the continents.
Pre-concert workshops for school pupils can be run in the school itself by the concert’s performers. The tools for preparing for concerts are presented to educational advisors in music teaching on Tuesday 13 October 2009 at the Cité de la musique and are also the theme of two-hour training sessions for teachers (IUFM, CFMI, etc.).

Online educational dossiers To prepare for the concert in the classroom, consult the biographies of the composers, commentaries on the works, audio excerpts synchronised with the sheet music, a quiz and crosswords.
